The Object of J's Desire

Today, as we were driving home following an afternoon of errands, J and the kiddos spotted two deer grazing by the roadside. Near to the deer was a tom, taunting J as he casually pecked at the grass. J has lusted after a turkey since he began bow hunting. Though they loiter by the roadside in rafters during the off-season, they are scarce during hunting season; it seems they may not be stupid creatures.

J stopped the car to admire the hideous bird, and the children began emulating turkey sounds from the backseat: 'ackackackack' and "blelelelblelele'. Touching as the scene was, it ended abruptly as a military policeman motioned for J to pull over. J was able to finesse his way out of a violation by showing the policeman our digital photo of the tom. As luck would have it, the MP venerated J's reason for stopping mid-road as he was an avid hunter himself. Ticket evaded. Lucky duck, er, turkey.
