This phrase is prominently displayed at the former site of the World Trade Center.
After the concert ended, around midnight, Heidi and I decided to drive to the lower west side to the site of the Tribute in Light, a memorial for the WTC victims. The former site of the WTC, and the new site of the under-construction Freedom Tower, was heavily guarded by literally dozens upon dozens of police officers; in fact, police presence was palpable throughout the city. Many of the side streets surrounding the site were cordoned off, and traffic was rerouted; so looking down at the WTC foundation was unfeasible. Instead, the site's view was limited to fences and tops of cranes, though many of the surrounding buildings were draped with massive American flags, and offices were illuminated with red, white and blue lights.
The tribute of light consisted of multiple beams of light projected skyward emulating the shape of the twin towers. The lights were projected, it seemed, from a rooftop of a nearby parking garage in the financial district.
Nearby, at Battery Park, 'The Sphere', a sculpture representing peace that once stood in the World Trade Center Plaza, is exhibited in its battered state with an eternal flame at its base. The site of the sphere, on the occasion of the anniversary of September 11th, became an impromptu site of a memorial to the firefighters who died on the day of the attacks. Flags bearing the names of the day's victims were displayed, and boots of firemen lined the sphere's plot. Helmets of policemen and firemen were displayed, along with a painting, alongside the eternal flame.

As our news outlets are inundated with headlines questioning the integrity of generals and our President, remember the shock, horror and sadness of September 11th. Remember the victims. Remember why we are fighting the war on terror. Support our troops and our President.
