The pre-school and kindergarten classes at the kiddos' school host an annaul end-of-the-year fundraiser where the students ride their tricycles, bicycles, and scooters around the gym for pledges. Donors have the option to pay a flat pledge or pledge by the lap. The first year J and I pledged, we were a bit naive and decided upon the per lap pledge. Much like Mrs. John Dashwood's remark that people live longer when an annuity is to be paid them, the kiddos ride myriad laps when donors pledge by the lap! The students received punches on their name tags as they completed each lap. The punches were tallied at the end of the riding period to determine the amount owed; thankfully, J and I chose the flat pledge option this year.
This year, Log rode his bicycle sans training wheels 83 times around the gym!
Ladies and Gentelmen, start your engines!

Matty is not comfortable on a bicycle, even one with training wheels, and chose to ride Log's scooter. I think that the speed at which his classmates rode their bicycles frightened Matty, and he called it a day after nine laps. Nonetheless, Matty didn't fall off his scooter or falter as he rode which is a great improvement!
