Double Digits

Because we knew we would be traveling to Sweden over Bop's birthday weekend proper, we held a friends party for her the week prior. J was on the verge of heart palpitations as Bop has officially transitioned from Disney princesses and My Little Ponies to the more tween-like themes of High School Musical. J just kept saying, "There are pictures of boys on her cake plates!" Bless his heart, our girls will be the death of him when they start dating :)

Bop invited a dozen friends from school to eat pizza and cake and bowl (options really are limited here). She had a wonderful time! I completely forgot to take pictures of her as she opened family gifts, but please know that she was grateful to all of you for remembering her special day! She was thrilled to have received a purse, jewelry, picture frames and body wash/sprays; it's a definite sign of her getting older when she doesn't lament the lack of toys! This maturation is also bittersweet; it absolutely terrifies me to think that she'll be going to university in eight years. Oh how time flies.

On the day of her birthday, she woke up in Sweden, spent the day in Copenhagen, Denmark and went to sleep in Germany! In Copenhagen, we saw the Little Mermaid statue, walked through the Tivoli Gardens (after spending nearly an hour driving in circles looking for a parking spot), and popped into a Build-A-Bear which nearly caused our children to weep with joy! Below is a video of the Danish Build-A-Bear workers singing to Bop. In the video you'll hear me refer to her as "Cot-uh" which is the German pronunciation of "Cate." No more Catie for her, thank you.
