Christmastime

Our Christmas would not have provided a setting for a Norman Rockwell painting what with J procumbent on the couch and completely unresponsive due to a super flu strain we've yet to overcome.

We fared much better on Christmas Eve as we tracked Santa on Norad, baked cookies, and played games to pass the time and calm the kiddos enlivened spirits. Bop was anxious to get to bed so that Santa would not pass over our house. Wanting to catch cause of him, she slept upside down in her bed so that her ear was close to the door in the hopes of hearing him stuffing stockings.

Little Man was genuinely exhausted from the day's events and fell asleep on his own and at a reasonable hour. Littlest drifted to sleep last causing Santa's elves to have a bit of a late night :)

All of the kiddos slept in until 0800 at which time we all rushed into the living room to survey the goodies. Santa brought the kids a Wii this year, and they were not remotely interested in the thing. Littlest's favorite gift was the LPS set from Aunt N and Uncle J, Bop favored a kit that enables her to make her own spa products (I'll have to shelf my cleaning tendancies while she manufactures lotions and bubble baths), while Log was enamored with his Legos (naturally). J bought an espresso maker for me which gave me the highly strung, caffeinated energy needed to bound through several days of sick kiddos and a sick husband.

After opening gifts (Littlest and Bop opened J's and announced his loot to him), J took to the couch, got sick and spent the next four hours back in bed. Luckily, the kiddos were preoccupied with new toys, so the day passed uneventfully. Luckily, the six casseroles I'd spent Christmas Eve making were eaten the next day when our friends from Atlanta came for a visit!

During Jeannie and Seth's stay, I didn't take the camera from its bag and focused on enjoying time with them rather than snapping away. Together, we traveled to visit castles on the Rhein, Roman ruins in Trier, the cathedral in Cologne and Luxembourg.

Despite the holiday hiccups, we celebrated Christ's birth and gave thanks for Him. We are truly blessed.
