J joked that the last time he donned roller skates he watched Michael Jackson's Thriller video while making the loop around the rink. Funnily enough, he got to skate to Thriller again as the first half hour of music was devoted to Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five. J and I discovered muscles that have been dormant since adolescence as we shakily took to the floor. After a few laps, J and I became comfortable enough to speed up a bit and were able to dodge all of the kids who slipped and fell (some were seemingly Kamakazis as they didn't fall until they were in our direct path).
Bop first tried roller skates before switching to roller blades on which she fared better. Cautious at first, she later relaxed enough to dance a bit while skating. She was sure to keep her distance from her parents who had the audacity to stay and roller skate :)
Log skated in the way that James Brown danced: a bit jerky and with a lot of faux half splits. I've never seen anything quite like it and have no idea how he managed his theatrics. Luckily he came away with only one bruise to his knee.
Littlest had the wheels on her skates tightened to the point that she was nearly able to walk without so much as a glide. She did the chicken dance on skates and made her way around the rink on her own several times.
