My grandmother's quilts and afghans are some of my most treasured possessions, so I was glad that a box arrived from the kiddo's great grandmother filled with an afghan for each child. The afghans in the box looked much like the ones my grandmother used to make with familiar patterns and the color orange.
The kiddos love to snuggle up under blankets and like the idea of having their 'own' blankets. Since the box arrived, the afghans have served as capes, swaddling for dolls, makeshift skirts, and veils. I'm sure that as they grow older, the kiddos will treasure their handmade afghans as much I cherish mine.
