Our Snowman

Our first snow of the season snuck up on us like a thief in the night. It fell steadily and quickly until there was about a four inch accumulation.

After dressing our kiddos in a conglomeration of winter clothing, they set out with their sleds. Luckily our backyard is quite steep, so they didn't have to go too far. In hindsight I think that the sun's reflection of their brightly colored plastic sleds sent off a kind of batman signal to play because it wasn't long before nine neighborhood kids answered the call. I found myself cooking lunch for 12 and not minding in the slightest because the kids were having so much fun. The kiddos came in at regular intervals to thaw themselves with a cup of hot chocolate. J assumed 'drying out' duty as he hung gloves and laid shoes in front of the fire while the kiddos sipped. Littlest's cheeks were rosy for two days.

The snow didn't last more than two days, but it was fun while it lasted.

The kiddos came together to build a snowman in our front side yard.

This is my kind of snowman, The Melting Snowman.  It's a bath melt from Lush, a UK based store that sells handmade, organic, and vegan bath and body products.  Lush is divine, and I felt divinely blessed when they opened a branch in our city.  This little guy smells of marzipan and leaves you feeling incredibly soft.
