Salzburg, Austria

We rented a house on a lake in southern Germany and took several day trips in the surrounding area.  We walked the length and breadth of Salzburg and took a river cruise where my niece was appointed an honorary captain.

After quite a walk, we arrived at the Salzburg Cathedral where we smelled the most delicious smell wafting around the square.  The oldest bakery in Salzburg still bakes loaves and rolls in a wood fired oven in the Cathedral's basement.  These rolls were the best we've ever eaten bar none.

We thought of you Nana!  Below is the home used as the exterior von Trapp house in the Sound of Music.
