Bop's class didn't have a formal party but exchanged cards and nibbled on goodies during snack time. I was asked to provide a gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and egg-free desert which had me scratching my head until I discovered Cherrybrook Kitchen mixes which addressed all of the allergy concerns.

Among Hannah Montana and Transformers valentines, Bop discovered a *special* valentine from a boy in her class that she thinks cute. The boy looks just like Judd Nelson circa The Breakfast Club save for his hair which is blonde. Judd MADE a valentine for Bop (pop out hearts and all) which stated that he thought she was special, kind and hot. Wanting to ensure that Judd's sentiments were exclusive to her, she jaunted around the room and inspected the other girls' valentines and came away satisfied that she alone was the *hot* apple of Judd's eye. The fact that Judd used the word HOT to describe his daughter made J's skin crawl and was the subject of a lengthy diatribe on our daughters' inability to date until they're out of college. J will not do well when our girls come of age, I think.
Bop immediately declared that she would not wash the hand she used to fish Judd's declaration out of her Valentine bag and swooned the whole of the day.
Log was on the opposite end of the spectrum; he still finds girls to be giggly and annoying creatures who lack the good sense to appreciate all of the nuances of General Grievous and Bo Bo Phut. Perhaps it is because of this that the little girls in his class fawn over him. Log gave no special attention to any girl and signed only his name to his cards. Because his teacher doesn't believe in sacrificing classroom time to parties (in fact, Log was required to make his Valentine mailbox at home), the children exchanged cards during snack time. Log's box was filled with cards declaring him to be 'cute' and 'neat.' One little girl was sorely disappointed when her valentine proved not to be an invitation to the school's sweetheart dance and asked me if I could make Log go! When I broached the subject with little man, he said that the dance was a waste of money and that he didn't like dancing at all let alone with a silly girl.
Valentine's Day is a holiday that make's Littlest's heart go pitter pat! She was able to incorporate her favorite things: hearts, glitter and the color pink into her treat bag.
I volunteered to aid the teachers with the party they'd planned for Littlest's class. Littlest counted conversation hearts into a plastic heart ornament, ate cupcakes, read a special story about St. Valentine, and had pictures made with friends. Littlest received an extra special valentine from a little boy in her class (who looks quite a bit like J with his dark hair and widow's peak) that included nearly a pound and a half of German chocolate. Bless his heart, he also painstakingly wrote a card that told Littlest she was so very nice and pretty! And so the fairy tale myth is propagated.
