My sister's birthday falls very near to or on Thanksgiving each year. Growing up, my family would typically travel to visit grandparents and family to celebrate Thanksgiving thereby enabling us to honor Christmas at home. As a result of the Thanksgiving travels, it was not uncommon for my sister to mark her birthday at a restaurant off of I-75.
Log's birthday this year made me think of my sister's unorthodox birthdays as he opened gifts amid cardboard boxes and a dismantled house. Fortunately for my and J's sake, Log alleviated our guilt about his lack of a party by telling us he wanted to celebrate his birthday at Disney later this month.
Log counted down the days until his birthday with fastidious care. Log awoke with a grin as Bop sang happy birthday to him, and the grin never faded from his face all day long despite the effects of the move.
Log is exultant about Aunt Jacquie and Uncle Scott's gift of Disney dollars; he's already identified several things he may buy while at Disney.
Log also enjoyed Aunt Nicole and Uncle Jesse's Batman toys! Unfortunately, the movers packed the Batmobile, and I spent the better part of an honor carefully cutting boxes open until it was found which thankfully pacified Log.
After opening gifts, Log and several friends bowled at the on post alley and demolished his Coldstone Creamery cake. Afterward, we checked into Army lodging and watched Ratatouille.
